The treatments that provide relief from the sciatica symptoms sometimes don’t work effectively. It doesn’t mean that there is no other option available because now there are some new treatments that give effective result without any fear of side effects.

When sciatic nerve gets irritated then it becomes the reason of pain in the low back. There are different reasons of occurrence sciatica but it may be because of protruding out of one or more spinal discs and herniations. The main reason of its use is that it prevents the inflammation near the place of spinal nerves and discs. It also provides relief for short period of time but not for longer period. The main purpose of steroid injection is to provide relief and when its affect gradually decrease all the symptoms come back in the form of inflammation or strain on the nerves. There are some side effects too along with the steroid injections such as soft tissue damage, osteoporosis and immune suppression. It means it is better to use it with certain limit so that it provide relief but at the same time without developing any other health issues.

Last but not the least surgery is one option that is available for sciatica patients when nothing is working. If you want to know the rate of success with disc surgery then it is not satisfactory because it is just 50%. In most of the cases the symptoms get serious as “failed back surgery syndrome” occurs after the operation. After surgery the problem like surgical scar takes place and pressure on adjacent spinal disc become another problem.

Spinal decompression is new and quite successful option in sciatica symptoms relief as compared to the other options of treatment. In this treatment computerized traction motor is used for putting decompressive pressure to spine so that it relieves strain from the spinal discs. Spinal decompression can’t be applied to every patient of sciatica because it is not helpful in every type of sciatica case.
